"These were an upgrade form my older set of Chisels. They came in a beautiful box to keep them safe. Sharp out of the box, but did have to do some miner tune-up, like removing the shipping coating that they came covered in (no big deal) and a little lapping on the back. But otherwise I expect they will be with me for years to come. They also feel nice in your hands. Well Balanced."

They are excellent for woodworking tasks like paring or chopping mortises. I would consider them too good to use for cruddy jobs, like scraping off old putty or paint -- that's the kind of thing crappy chisels from big-box stores are for!"

- I just received my set of chisels and I was about to sharpen them when I noticed there is some kind of coating on the tip of the blade. What is this coating and what is the best way to remove it? Thank you.
- Not sure what it is exactly, just there to prevent rust during shipment. I have those chisels myself. I have tried several solvents to no avail. Actually, found that it came off easily in the sharpening process. Left it on on anywhere else. Love the chisels.
